On Sunday, December 22, 2024, the leadership of the Osun State University Alumni Association, under the able presidency of Mr. Abdulbasit Olalekan Abubakar, paid a courtesy visit to Distinguished Senator Akogun Lere Oyewumi, PhD, at his country home in Ikire, Osun State.
Dr. Oyewumi, a key stakeholder in the conception and establishment of Osun State University, played a pivotal role in the institution’s founding phase. During his tenure as Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Osun State chapter, he demonstrated exemplary leadership by mobilizing local government chairmen to commit a portion of their monthly allocations towards the establishment of the University.
During the visit, Dr. Oyewumi fondly relived the journey of Osun State University’s creation and reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to its continuous development. He pledged to remain an active supporter of the university’s growth and highlighted his plans for future contributions that would soon take tangible form.
