In a bid to foster academic excellence and support its alma mater, the Osun State University Alumni Association (OSUAA) held a memorable Alumni Day Lecture, Orientation Programme, and Scholarship Award Ceremony on Tuesday, 17th September 2024, at the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Auditorium, Main Campus, Osogbo.
Themed “Navigating Career Pathways: From Graduation to Professional Success”, the event brought together distinguished alumni, university administrators, graduating students, and guests in a stimulating atmosphere of mentorship and celebration.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye, served as the Chief Host and lauded the alumni body for their unwavering commitment to the growth and development of the university and its students.
Abubakar Abdulbasit Olalekan, the National President of the Alumni Association, who also served as the host of the event, expressed his delight at the increasing impact and visibility of the alumni body. He encouraged graduating students to see the alumni network as a lifelong community of support and growth.
The high point of the event was the award of scholarships worth two million naira to indigent but diligent students, further cementing the alumni association’s resolve to give back meaningfully. The scholarships included the Bukunmi Omotosho Alumni Scholarship, targeting five brilliant students with a minimum CGPA of 3.5, and the broader N1.4 million Alumni Scholarship Fund earlier pledged during the convocation programme.
A panel of accomplished alumni led a vibrant discussion session aligned with the event’s theme. Discussants included:

These speakers shared practical insights and personal experiences on navigating life after graduation, making informed career choices, and achieving professional excellence.
The orientation session was followed by the formal induction of the 2024 graduating class into the alumni association, marking the beginning of their journey as proud ambassadors of Osun State University.
The successful event not only reinforced the value of alumni engagement but also showcased the association’s proactive role in nation-building through education, mentorship, and philanthropy.
